In January 2016 Jai Verma was invited to Banaras Hindu University, to visit the  Banaras Hindu  University (BHU). The university was celebrating its Centenary, and as such were holding a series of events to mark this anniversary. Banaras is one of the oldest continuously lived in cities in the world  its history stretching back at least four millennia. 

There was a three-day International seminar on Hindi Pravasi Sahitya running between 10-12th January. Jai spoke at this on the subject of Pravasi Hindi Sahitya in the Context of Globalisation, explaining how Hindi will survive and thrive through the growing connections of the world. The event was very well attended and enthusiastic, and the guest speakers all Internationally acclaimed: from the USA, Susham Bedi; from Canada, Sneh Thakur; from Mauritius, Alka Dhanpat; and from the UK,  Tejendra Sharma (UK coordinator)and Sheil Agarwal joining Jai Verma.  The event was coordinated by Annad Sharma and the University’s Hindi Department.

After the seminar had concluded, Jai was invited by Vidhya  Shree Nyas to attend a function alongside.  The chief guest, to the function , was Governor of West Bengal, Mr. K N Tripathi. The dignitaries in attendance included the Vice Chancellor of BHU, Mr. Tripathi and  the Director from  Hindi Kendriya Sansthan. Mr. Nand Kishore.
